Janelle’s first backpacking trip was an amazing journey; exhausting and exhilarating! Tough Cookie, Short Step (that’s Meena!) and I set up camp Sunday at the top of Stairs Mountain, just ten feet from some of the most amazing views in the Dry River Wilderness. Then we settled back for an epic night that brought first rain, then snow, then a spectacular morning sunrise that left us all breathless.
But that was just half of it. On Monday, instead of returning the way we came, we headed out over Mts. Resolution and Parker, fighting through a snowmelt and frosty open ledges before making our way all the way to Bartlett for a well deserved pizza.
Did I mention that all that happened after Janelle and I summited Imp Face on Saturday? Here’s the numbers from the weekend. Mountains summited: 5. Total so far: 35 of 52. Total miles for the three days: 17.3. Moose sightings: 1.
We’re still drying gear and sorting through pictures. We’ll have excerpts and pics all this week. In the meantime, many thanks to those who have joined us on Facebook. If you haven’t yet, just click the link to the right of the page, and join us.
For today, we thought we’d leave you with something different. Given the spectacular landscapes we encountered this weekend, here’s a little slideshow we wanted to share. Enjoy!
