Bring it!

So, the snow is coming, anywhere from 12 to 30 inches of it. Finally! And for Buffalo and Tough Cookie that means only one thing, going hiking. After several weeks of life getting in the way, we are heading north Sunday to do a hike Janelle and I have been talking about for months, Lonesome Lake Hut. It will be the first time Janelle has visited an AMC Hut and we can’t wait. Oh, and the little matter of hiking over the frozen lake is getting her pretty excited as well.

So, for the next couple days, we’ll hunker down and watch the white stuff pile up. Then it’s off to the mountains! If anyone would like to join us, we will hit the trail on Sunday morning, likely around 8-9 a.m. Let us know if we’ll see you there!

Big, big event: Mark your calendars. Janelle and I will kick off our pre-book press with a huge event on Thursday, March 7! We can’t give you details yet, but we can tell you the presentation and event will take place in the evening, after work, and will be in Concord. Stay tuned for more details on this, and other events, including a big announcement soon regarding our book release party!

Special honor for the book: Very exciting news! Yesterday, we learned that author, hiker and awesome person, Patricia Ellis Herr, will be writing the foreword for The Adventures of Buffalo and Tough Cookie.  We could not be more thrilled, or honored.

Trish, along with her girls Alex and Sage, hiked with us to five peaks on the list, including our final climb. Janelle has become great friends with the girls and looks to them often for inspiration. Trish wrote a book about her own journey with Alex up the state’s 4,000 footers, and if that’s not inspiring enough, Trish, Alex and Sage are currently training and fundraising for the 800k Camino Trail in Spain. They leave in early March. Please stop by their website to read more about these wonderful adventurers and see how you can donate to the worthy causes they are working toward. Thanks Trish!

More social media news: Our Facebook page is gaining momentum and has begun being THE way we have been getting quick news and updates to our fans. Many of you are already there and we thank you very much for that support! If you are not yet a Facebook follower, what’s keeping you? We’d love to see you over there where we post pictures, videos and other exciting things happening in the great adventure that is this book.

For example, we dug up this shot, at left, of Janelle from late September 2011, a full month before we began our 52’er quest. We should have known then that the girl was something special!

Once again, thanks for the support and interest. We appreciate all the interest and followers you’ve all brought to us and we can’t wait to bring our story to you!

Lonesome Lake was one of our first winter snowshoe hikes years ago. So much fun! The views of Franconia Ridge over the lake on a bluebird day right after a major snow dumping should be amazing!! Have a great time!

I’ve been planning all winter to head up that way for some snowshoeing. Wish I could join you Sunday, but I don’t think I’ll be able to convince my husband to drive 4 hours to snowshoe after he plows for 24-48 straight hours! Hope we get as much snow here in CT as they have been forecasting! I’m ready to ski and snowshoe!!! Have a great time!
