Buffalo and Tough Cookie hit the road!

Buffalo and Tough Cookie are ready to roll, our tour begins today! Thanks Dave “Bear” Lynch for the photo.

Starting tonight, Janelle and I (and sometimes Meena and Aaron) will hit the road to begin our summer/fall tour in support of the book. In the next few months we’ll travel to libraries in Littleton, Conway, Goffstown and Grafton, Mass. We’ll go as far south as Mystic, Conn. We’ll lead hikes in Rhode Island and at Blue Hill Observatory just outside Boston. We’ve been invited to BBQs and Red Hat Societies.

And that’s just what’s confirmed. We’re working on gigs in Vermont and Maine to make it a full sweep for New England. With luck, we’ll show up at the Highland Center.

Janelle and I will return to the road, just as we had when we were climbing. This time our goal will be to spread our message of kid power, and our love of hiking. But of course, we’ll just end up enjoying spending time together.

We begin tonight, in our home town, with a drop-in signing event at EMS at the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester. We’ll be there from 7-8:30. Keep it casual. Introduce yourself. Tell us what you have planned for the weekend, or for next year, or on your bucket list.

Mostly, we’re looking forward to meeting the people who have supported us from the beginning. We want to say thank you in person.

Here’s a link to all the events we have planned thus far. See if there’s one near you: Buffalo and Tough Cookie Tour Schedule

Meanwhile, we’ll try to get some hikes in. Janelle is eager to tag a couple 4,000 footers. There’s some Urban Explorations we’ve had our eye on. We roll on, this happy team of misfits. Come out and say hi!

You’ll be on my old home turf in R.I. and in Mystic, Conn., Dan. I grew up approximately between So. Kingston and Mystic in Ashaway, R.I. Both my father and mother had parents who were born and grew up in No. Stonington, Conn., near Mystic and I realized a few years ago, looking at family geneologies, that Mom and Dad were distant cousins, both being descended from different sons of Capt. George Denison an early settler who fought in both the English Civil War (he returned to England to fight for Parliament at Edgehill and Marston Moor) and King Phillip’s War (he captured the Narragansett war sachem Canonchet).

You and Janelle watch out for the old Swamp Yankees down there! (See if you run into any Champlins.)
